【Second Stop】 Spring Hill Resort-hot spring(unde hot spring)

Tianliao is the only cold spring area in southern Taiwan. The spring water is a naturally flowing sodium bicarbonate spring with a pH of 7 and an average temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. It is a rare carbonated cold spring in the world, with clear, colorless water and a slightly sulfurous smell. During the Japanese occupation, people used the hot spring to heat the water for bathing. Due to its pure and warm water, it is known as the "Beauty Skin Bath". The Izumo Bath at the Flower Season Hotel is a nearly 100-square-meter semi-outdoor nude bath area for men and women adjacent to the garden. It is like a paradise, with each bath having a hydrotherapy massage pool, a low-temperature pool, a high-temperature pool, an ice water pool, as well as sauna and steam room facilities.

【Third Stop】 Qishan Old Street.Qishan Station

Strolling along the century-old streets of Qishan Old Street, a place steeped in history and culture, one is struck by the elegant and classic atmosphere exuded by the red brick buildings with Baroque facades and the sandstone arched pavilions. Qishan Old Street encompasses Zhongshan Road, Fuxing Street, and Huazhong Street, and this historic street begins at Qishan Station. During the Japanese occupation, the Japanese built the "Qiwei Line" sugar railway to develop the sugar industry, and Qishan Station was a crucial transfer point on this line. The station blends Victorian and Gothic architectural styles, featuring a distinctive wooden structure with an octagonal sloping roof.

【Fourth Stop】 Meinong Folk Village

Meinong is the largest Hakka settlement in Kaohsiung, a small town in southern Taiwan rich in Hakka culture and known for its simple and honest folk customs. Unlike the densely populated neighboring Qishan, the slow pace of Meinong retains a more leisurely feel from earlier times. The Meinong Folk Village fully preserves Hakka culture, bringing together local industry elites to introduce Meinong's human geography, customs, and a wealth of tourism and experiential activities.

【Fifth Stop】 Lei Cha & 12"Oil-paper Umbrella(Choose one of two DIY experiences)

Lei Cha It is a traditional Hakka tea snack. "Lei" means to grind. Tea leaves, sesame seeds, peanuts and other ingredients are ground into powder in a ceramic mortar and pestle. Then, hot herbal tea and crispy popped rice are slowly poured in and mixed well before drinking. It can satisfy hunger and thirst and can also be consumed as a health drink.

Oil-paper Umbrella Once a glorious era, the area boasted over twenty paper umbrella factories at its peak, contributing significantly to Meinong's economy alongside tobacco and rice. Their artistic and decorative value makes them worthy of collection. Experience Hakka culture and the beauty of cultural relics through a hands-on DIY process. The entire experience takes about an hour; once the painting is complete and rosin is sprayed, wait fifteen minutes for it to dry, and you can take it home.

【Sixth Stop】 Meinong Word-worshipping Paper Incinerator

"Respecting characters and valuing writing" is a traditional concept deeply influenced by Confucianism. Coupled with the Hakka people's great reverence for written paper, they set up incinerators in villages specifically for burning joss paper after use. Currently, four well-preserved pavilions dedicated to respecting characters exist in Meinong District. The "Minongzhuang Respecting Character Pavilion," located at the intersection of Zhongshan Road and Yong'an Road, is the oldest and most complete, designated as a national third-grade historical site. Its exterior is a hollow hexagonal three-story brick tower, constructed from swallowtail bricks. The pavilion body is decorated with painted petal-shaped cutwork, and the roof is adorned with shallowly carved ruyi patterns, giving it an elegant and simple style. The stone tablet below the pavilion enshrines deities related to education, such as Cangjie, Confucius, and Wenchang Dijun, reflecting the importance Meinong people place on writing and education.

【Seventh Stop】 Yong'an Old Street

Meinong, formerly known as "Minong," was settled during the Qing Dynasty when Hakka people from Ligang, Pingtung, crossed the Laonong River and established "Minong Village" at Moonlight Mountain in Meinong. At the time of its establishment, sixteen surnames of the ancestors built 24 kitchens here and named it Yong'an Street, hoping for a permanent and peaceful settlement. Now over two hundred years old, it was the earliest and most prosperous street developed in its time. Within a stretch of about two kilometers, a rustic and nostalgic atmosphere prevails, with countless quaint Hakka kitchens and beautiful gate towers telling a beautiful story of two centuries of vicissitudes. Yong'an Old Street is a historical microcosm of Hakka culture and the essence of Meinong.

【Eighth Stop】 East Gate Tower

During the Qing Dynasty, Meinong Village, centered around Yong'an Street, was surrounded by gates, with only the East Gate having a unique gate tower. Originally built in 1755, the East Gate was an inner building constructed by the Hakka people, who valued education and hoped for many descendants. Rebuilt in 1973 in the style of a Qing Dynasty dragon-eave and phoenix-pavilion structure, the tower is majestic and elegant. The gate tower bears the inscription "Greatly Enlightening Civilization," a historical site that embodies the rich life of the people of Meinong and witnesses the history of Meinong Village's founding.

【Ninth Stop】 Meinong Lake(Jhongjheng Lake)

Built in 1748, the lake covers an area of 21 hectares, making it the second largest artificial lake in Kaohsiung City. Backed by mountains to the northwest and surrounded by fields on three sides, the lake boasts beautiful scenery. The entire area features a lakeside walking trail and bicycle path, and the visitor center offers bicycle rentals. Visitors can enjoy cycling and strolling here. In addition, it is also a great place for bird watching in southern Taiwan. From October to March of the following year, a large number of migratory birds, as well as common and rare bird species, stop here to stop, attracting many bird lovers to come here to watch birds or catch them.
